Scared Now (CLEAN)

June 18, 2021

“The only time you have is now, so take care of yourself.” As part of Mental Health Awareness Month, “Better Days” uses layers of guitars over a resolute drum beat to create a mellow, yet motivating atmosphere to ponder the importance of self-care, particularly getting enough sleep.

“It’s about taking care of your body and mind by taking breaks to rest when you need them. I like to think of it as an anti-hustle culture anthem,” she laughed. “But with that being said, I think that hard work is very important, but I also think that it’s not good to sacrifice your health or wellbeing.”

The Knoxville, Tennessee, based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist has performed at Rhythm N’ Blooms Music Festival with the likes of Young the Giant and Dave Barnes, Waynestock Festival, Sunset on Central, Women in Jazz Jam Festival, live on-air at WUTK 90.3 FM, WDVX 89.9 FM, and WOZO 103.9 FM, among others. McDaniel has also caught the attention of the Knoxville Music Warehouse, who chose her song “I’ll Leave the Light On” as one of the top 16 songs from Knoxville artists in 2016. The following year, fans voted her Knoxville’s Favorite Band of 2017. Her song “Silence” from the EP 26 Letters was voted Best Singer/Songwriter Song in the 2018 Knoxville Music Awards.
